THE HISTORIANS

Rosalind Chislett and Jane Davidson are graduates in Archaeology. They met at Kent University and decided to work together using their experience in architecture, archival research and genealogy to investigate house histories.

They founded House Historians in 2000 and have researched hundreds of houses, predominantly in the South East (in Kent and Sussex), although they can undertake commissions anywhere in England. Their background in archaeological research has been invaluable in the investigation of a wide range of properties from cottages to country houses.

Research for this book has meant condensing house histories into a few sentences, which at times has been frustrating, but perhaps owners will now be tempted to know more…
